What do you get from horadric caches?

Ring of Royal Grandeur aka RoRG is an essential item in the Diablo 3 expansion - Reaper of Souls. It has become mandatory to have it in order to have many legendary set effects on your character to do higher torment levels.

I have been farming split bounties in act 1 on normal mode for my RoRG. So far, I have opened 177 caches after the anniversary buff. My target is to open 1000 horadric caches from act 1 in normal mode and to share my journey on this blog.

Prior to D3 anniversary, I have already started this project and recorded the results of 160 caches. Even though the data set is small, you can see there is a differences in the amount of blood shards dropped from caches.

The following are my findings so far:

1) Based on the numbers I compiled, currently the legendary drop chance is about 9%. This is to say that you have a chance for a legendary for every 10 cache. Since I usually do 30 caches or more, I normally get around 3 legendaries on most attempts.

2) You get 2 guaranteed keystone fragments.per cache.

3) A lot more shards can be found in caches after the buff. The increase is about 10x

4) Surprisingly the ratio of blue items to yellow items is about 1:26 and the ratio of veiled crystal to arcane dust is about 1:8. I think this make sense because as a new player starting off, doing bounties is a good way to find more yellows to gear and because normal is very easy to do.

But at the end of the day when you are already decently geared and you salvage all, the ratio of materials between veiled crystal and arcane dust is about 1:1.4.

5) You do not get white items and death breaths from caches, they do not drop at all.
